Control of the foundation

We have taken a short vacation with the kids so it has been a little quite here for some time. In addition our internet is gone so I have to type on my mobile - not very convenient.

Still there has been some progress at our construction site. The supporting walls in the back of the house have been filled with concrete. Two cubic meter were not quite sufficient but fortunately enough for the crucial part.

The last days we spent now putting down the drainage pipes properly and covering them with small stones. Today Nærøysund Entreprenør started to backfill the house.

In two days we get people here to control the foundation. They will check that everything is according to specs and give the "OK" for delivering the house. If everything is fine we get the house delivered in two weeks - on August 14th. :-)

Bad news - good news

This morning I got a call from Roger who was asking if I was sitting down. I suspected immediately that something was wrong and asked impatiently what was going on. He told me that we would not get the house on August 7th. Bummer! This was not what I wanted to hear. We did not really get any explanation why but it can have a lot of reasons. So we go for the one reason that we want to believe - they are striving for the perfect product and during quality control they found some things they wanted to adjust to deliver the best quality possible. You have to think positive. And the good news was then also that delivery is only 1 week delayed. So we will get the house most probably on Tuesday, August 14th.

We can live with that and are looking forward to getting the house. :)

Concrete - Part II (Walls) - T -27

Today around 11 o'clock we got the second batch of concrete. This time the walls needed to be filled. The concrete was a different type - more liquid and it hardened a lot faster than the one we used for the foundation. They took 3 rounds - each time with a break of 10-15 minutes so it could get in every corner and harden a little bit before the next round to avoid air pockets in the wall which would weaken the structure.

It feels like we got a huge step closer to a house again! :)

Two rounds have already been finished here

Finished!

Countdown - 4 weeks until the house is coming

Our house is produced and just waiting that we get ready with the foundation. In 4 weeks is delivery date - August 7th.

Yesterday all the inside wall structures got ready. We put up a beam where there should not be a wall, so the floor right above it will not collapse when the house is being put on the foundation.

Checking if the height is correct...
... and its perfect!
We also mixed concrete to make the foundation for the supportive walls.

To avoid thousands of rides with the wheel barrow - we made something to send the sand downwards and collected it in a bucket.
Today we started to build overhead gantries so we could put some more support in the thermo walls. It will also make it easier to pour the concrete since we reach everywhere better.

We covered the part where we sit when we take a break and eat something.
Overhead gantries to be able to walk around and poor the concrete, also used for mounting the house when it comes.
One round - except on the back wall.
The floor boards we used there will be reused as balcony boards later in the process.

Right now the last preparations are ongoing so we can pour the concrete in the walls.

Inner walls

This weekend we continued to prepare for filling the thermo walls with concrete. We put foam in between the foundation and the thermo walls so the concrete is not leaking through. The structure for 3 inner walls is build up. And on the outside we put down drainage pipes behind the back wall, so we could begin with the casing for a supportive wall on the outside.

The wind made everything a little harder. It was blowing from all directions.

Saturday morning - the first inner supportive wall is being built out of thermo wall elements
